Profile[]

Meanest of the mean, toughest of the tough. Grimlock is seemingly the very epitome of a brute. Ornery, stubborn, and proud, Grimlock is the sort of mech to carve a straight line through his life, simply smashing through anything that doesn't have the good sense to get out of the way! He leads the Dynobots; a like-minded band of misfits of the same general disposition. Formerly a decorated veteran of the Primal Vanguard, Grimlock and his crew went renegade after a failed mission lead to the death of one of his team. Quarantined and slated for a dissection slab, he and his boys broke out and went rogue, living on the fringes of society and working as mercenaries. Brought back into the fold by Optimus Prime, Grimlock once more has thrown his weight behind the Autobot cause even though he and his team struggle with a condition that make them a danger to themselves and everyone around them.

Background[]

Grimlock has been a member of the Primal Vanguard for untold centuries, a good soldier, decorated, celebrated.

And then he wasn't. So he had his team, five of the roughest, toughest, meanest bunch of gear grinders that can be strapped together. Even their medic could bend mechs into shapes that they can't bend out of. Heavy armor, heavy weapons, they're all just heavies and their at the top. Then this mission comes up, their in the guts of the world and they find something that's just a bit meaner than they are. Something that's just a little bit badder, a little bit madder. Like always though, the Dynobots pull through, the medic has a plan, they'll take the forms of these things they're fighting and that way they can fight fire with fire. It works. The meanest bunch of 'bots on Cybertron get a little bit meaner... only this time, it's Grimlock that can't handle it. Something about the form takes over and he's seeing red. They make it out but they're a man short, not because of enemy action but because of Grimlock.

He killed one of his own men, one the toughest, most die-hard clankers he could find and Grimlock himself killed him. It all but breaks him. Now he and his crew are cursed with these forms and they're about to be popped on a slab and taken apart to see how Skar did it. He's at his lowest and the people he's been working for are about to gut him. He's angry, he's livid, he just wants to put it all behind him. So he legs it, legs it into the far and nasty, the places where no one wants to be, where no one wants to look. He wants to leave it all, do a job, get some money, get a ship, get the hell off Cybertron because everything is broken and everyone else can just live in the wreckage without the Dynobots around to make it worse... Because they are sick, they are hurt in a way that can't be fixed. His team, the team he worked so hard to put together is falling apart. He can see it, the fights aren't just flares of temper, they nearly come to blows, It doesn't help that they all have monsters in their guts. He just wants to go somewhere where they can be monsters in peace. No more double-dealing, just seclusion... and eventually a wasting death. He's getting desperate... he's never been desperate before, not that he can recall. He doesn't like it. It feels WEAK.

So someone comes along with a chance. Meet the New Boss. Optimus, a Prime. A actual, honest to Primus Prime... He can help them, he can try and save them...

And if he can't he doesn't look like he'd be too difficult to tear apart.

But this mech is hope, hope to be Soldiers again, not Monsters. So he pitches in, he and his boys. A chance for a better tomorrow, not for everyone else, but for them. A chance to do right by the mechs he failed.

Skills & Abilities[]

Heavy Hitter: Grimlock is something to behold on the battlefield. A lumbering powerhouse that backs his immense strength and exceptional durability with a mean streak that could encompass all of Cybertron twice over. He favors close quarters combat where he can ply his considerable might against enemies and bring his flaming, energo sword to bear! Otherwise, he carries a double-barreled laser carbine and a galaxial rocket launcher to work away anyone too quick or too fast to be caught within arms reach.

Seasoned Veteran: Grimlock has several millennia of active combat experience to draw upon when things get hairy. He can't rewire your flux capacitor on the fly but he can bend a sense of vicious guile to any task presented before him. Even if SMASH is usually the easiest and most expedient choice to make.

Weaknesses[]

Hard Headed: Grimlock is just about as stubborn as you'd ever have the displeasure of meeting. He sets his mind to something, ideas, plans, beliefs, he sticks with it like it was welded on and bolted in place. It's difficult to shake him from a position once he's bulldogged in. This can often lead to friction between allies and his own crew.

Abrasive: The guy's just got a bad attitude. He speaks about as softly as iron wool, insulting and threatening off-handedly without care or regard for the feelings of others. He tends to treat weaker people with disdain, rolling right over them to do as he pleases, thinking it the better course of action.

Egotistical: Of course, all of this wouldn't be quite as bad were it not for that damned pride of his. It might be the least armored part of him. When wounded or impugned, he will be driven to set things right or extract vengeance. Grudges and vendettas leading to botched missions or objectives just because he had to prove a point or settle a score.

Cybermorphic Beast: When Grimlock's alternate mode was reformatted, he got more than just a new shape to assume; he got a curse. The rage that pulses through these creatures that have survived so long off of the blood of Trypticon burns inside of Grimlock. It's always there, a little, hot coal just waiting to kindle into something greater. Now believe you me, Grimlock has never been the Happy-go-Lucky sort of guy. He's always had a short fuse... But now it's like there's a lit match just held so close to it and there's a extra ton or two of explosives just left laying around. That is to say, when he goes off, he goes OFF. When pushed to extremes, Grimlock runs the risk of losing control of himself and transforming into a Cybermorphic Beast. In this form he is less than a wild animal; he is a mad beast. Angry and hungry in equal and terrible measure, lashing out at friend and foe alike.

Personality[]

Grimlock has been fighting for countless centuries on countless worlds, first among the primal vanguard and then among the LSC with his Dynobots as covert ops for the senate and primacy. He's collected to him some of the hardest, meanest, most unruly bunch of bolt-strippers that have ever stomped across Cybertron. Why has he done this? Why does he suffer the frustration of knocking heads with them at every turn, why doesn't he have a elite team of crack operatives that take orders and do their jobs?

Because you cannot kill these slaggers. You cannot. They're like a rust spot that won't go away no matter what you do, they just can't be rubbed out no matter how hard you scrape, rub, polish, or grate away. They won't die, they're almost as tough as he is, almost as strong, almost as mean, almost as crazy. He is tired of looking up after a hard fought battle and finding out that he's the only one left standing, He is sick of picking up the bits and pieces of good friends and soldiers, his spark can't take it anymore, he can't take losing anymore friends, seeing people butchered. His hide's thick but it has been twisting i inch by inch until it finally reached a nerve. Grimlock can't stand the losses anymore. It's why he's always tip of the spear, why he kicks down the door. He can take it better than almost anyone. He leads the precious few that he knows can take it almost as well as him. He hates weaklings because he knows they have the heart, he knows they have the guts, he knows they will hurl themselves at the monsters of the universe and then he will see their heart, their guts. Those that are weak should know their frailty and stay in the shadows of the strong where they are SAFE!
